Now available is the 'Brian Boru Boot' - based on and inspired by the excavation find in the archaeological dig in Dublin during 'Wood Quay' excavations in 1972. This 'Wood Quay' era was Viking Age Dublinia but it was also the era of Brian Boru...

The style of the Gaelic Boot holds true to the Gaelic Shoe design concept, but this 'boot artifact' was unknown until recently because the 100% complete boot artifact was incorrectly labelled and thereby accidentally hidden from view. On a research day in the crypt of the National Museum in Dublin Niamh and I actually got our hands on it! See more research images under the ABOUT tab above. I've now perfected the modern version as a high quality wearable dress boot and present size 5 to size 10 for you to try on and get your perfect fit. This 'trying on' also allows to you to get a bespoke personalized version made to exactly fit you with the option to customise aspects of the finished design too. Prices from €1250 for 'made to order' (in stock / off the shelf) and from €1450 for 'made to measure' bespoke versions.

My 'Lough Gara' Gaelic Shoes are based on and inspired by the excavation find in the archaeological dig in the lake on the Sligo / Roscommon border called Lough Gara. This lake was artificial and had numerous man made islands with high status roundhouses called Crannógs. This puts the dating back to 3000-2500 years ago. This was the beginning of the era of Gaelic warlords. The style of my Gaelic Shoes holds true to the common elements of Gaelic Shoe design concept. On a research day in the crypt of the National Museum in Dublin Niamh and I got to see all the known examples of the Gaelic Shoes in the museum.  See more research images under the ABOUT tab above. I've now perfected the modern version as a high quality wearable dress shoe.

Dressing King Dathaí (Rathcroghan Visitor Centre)

Very pleased to install this commission for our local heritage centre https://www.facebook.com/Rathcroghan of upgrading the leather kit of a high status warrior. Not a wealth display or over done but a simple lightweight kit for a fast moving swordsman. His shield is a replicia of the Clonoura shield that shows wear marks from punching an incoming sword or spear away from the body, his belt is extra long to allow the long hanging down end with of course a brass D pin buckle, his sword arm has a light weight leather bracer, his scabbard is 3 layers of leather, his leather belt bag contains 3 secret things and his shoes are based on the find by a crannóg in the local lake Lough Gara. All handmade by me using quality Italian leather, fitted by me with pics by Niamh. Dathaí Abú
